11am Zumba with Roslyn -what a way to spend a Sat. morning- sweating to disco

Noon  Ladies and Gentlemen  - a soulful tribute to the roots of R&B by local ladies with a cool band behind them

1pm    Well Met   - 3 local players utilizing violin/flute/guitar to make your day be gentler                

2pm    Van Riel   - original band from the valley has written some good tunage, pay heed                                        

3pm    Café Ole     - drawing inspiration from a beautiful tapestry of musical styles from Spain and Latin-America, they are a versatile duo known to captivate and transport audiences through time and place.  

4pm    Future Immigrants - Philo Russ and Lennon join forces to present a varied set of music that turns their crank

5pm     Reid Williams- local singer/songwriter extraordinaire-some people and words go together oh so well to become  observations of moments in time that take you to those moments- this guy is special

6pm     Flowering  Eyeballs     - two local valley boys with a library of raw cut up improv jams                              

7pm     Dance Temple Cowichan  - DJ with live percussion done in a community building fashion that will give you the desire to dance with freedom

8:30pm Rainshadow Al    7 piece band from the island that wants you on the dance floor – renditions of Sanatana / Bob Marley / Fleetwood Mac plus their own originals

Noon Dale Manason -this man performs covers alongside his electronic ‘band’ in a most satisfying fashion

1pm     Steph Cutler -1/3 of local trio Firebird, she spreads her wings with these performances of her original material- she accompanies herself on piano

2pm    Jonny and Derrick - from Sooke  they play a mix of classic rock / blues / folk / and originals – Derricks guitar adds some jazzy undertones to Jonny Mack’s originals

3pm    Carlson’s  -a weekly chance for the young dance students to keep working on their routines all summer long- most gratifying to watch

4pm   The Ranters  -with her autoharp and him with his mandolin/guitar work together these local folks show off their vocal harmonies whilst performing familiar folk tunes

5pm    Jared Popma  -singer/songwriter born in the valley and now a Nanaimo resident, his music is a true observation of his wonderfully almost naïve pureness/honesty

6pm    Monte and the Pythons- having hosted many years of musical jams throughout the valley, this well known performer has a good team of players as of late and the journey taken on these original tunes is worth your time

7pm    James Meyer -never sure who he is bringing along but it is always entertaining, musical theatre being his forte means it is always joyous

Noon  Lennon -local musical elder in the hip hop scene, he also has chosen to accompany himself on guitar doing  some choice covers

1pm   Katrina Kadoski  -all the way up from Sooke, Katrina might be remembered as the writer /producer  / performer in her acclaimed / awarded play Cougar Annie Tales – today presenting her songwriting skills

2pm   Glenora Hand Bell Orchestra –residents from Glenora Farm come to town - a real treat not only the audience but for the performers who look so forward to performing for people

3pm   Canada’s Best Karate Sensai Jordan brings his many students to the park to showcase what they have learned so far in their martial arts classes – put your phone on video for this one

4pm   Fabian – from Argentina, he returns to perform for us once again- founding member of Entangados, his solo career is very much worth witnessing

5pm   Songwriters in the Round   - where 3 performers trade off 3 songs each in a panel fashion and yes,  discussion ensues  -this week  will be Naomi Payan  / Brian Hazelbower / Tai Williams

6pm   Wayne Kozak Quartet this great jazz/ R&B  sax player living in our valley always brings together a very fine team to take us on superb musical journeys

7pm   Beverley Mckeen and her Sweet Band  -one of the valley’s more well known singer/songwriters  always shines brighter when she has her full Sweet Band behind her

8:30pm  Nicholas Campbell -a soon to be a rock-a-billy legend (if not already) at 21 years old, this trio of musical peers should light up your life for  sure- a huge hit with his 3 performances last year, this Peterborough boy deserves your attention

Centennial Park Kid’s Stage - Red Balloon Toyshop sponsoring performances designed   for the under 9 crowd    

11am Anna McAndrew Trio    - performing songs from Raffi as well as some original children’s material                       

 

VITALS Stage

Noon  Bruce Cates- a folk singer for sure, he is liable to have a guest or two joining him to aid in bringing smiles to your faces

 1pm   Alick Troup – singer/guitar player moved over to the island from the Sunshine Coast and loves to entertain with a fine choice of mellow covers

2pm   Nadine Langelo – this gal luvs to sing cover tunes and has put a band behind her to give her that full sound

3pm   Open Mic – those who wish to sing / dance or perform on their instrument  on the festival stage here is a chance -we only have room for 8 performers for each open mic (next is July 30th) by signing up ahead of time at the sound booth

4pm   The Blair Brothers – one on guitar the other on pedal steel performing originals and covers to make you smile

5pm   Adam Dobres   - now living in the valley, a gifted guitarist and composer whose deep passion for his art is evident in every note he plays.  -his compositions resonate with emotion, capturing the complexities of joy, struggle, courage, longing, and love.                                                                                                           

6pm   Josh  Warren Quartet -Victoria jazz bassist living in Toronto is home long enough to put together some musician peers and perform for us- a musical treat each year

7pm   Maple Mountain Bunch  - no festival is complete without a bit of bluegrass being on the stage and this trio does it real well

7:30pm NEAVV-living on Gabriola , from Toronto, a singer/songwriter/producer who knows how to write songs that suit  her abilities to give strong performances of each song

8:30pm Sarah Smith Band  -a fiercely talented Canadian singer/songwriter, known for her powerful and compelling stage performances and the bold humanity of her songwriting -an artist of uncommon ability, unrivalled authenticity, who connects with all who encounter her remarkable songs and live performances

Noon   Mbira Spirit – starting off another Canada Day with intercultural roots- a Zimbabwean singing country music with soulful glee

1pm    Kelly Roxanne Gervin -a local educator who also finds much release in songwriting and performing

2pm    Tzinquaw Dancers   -  intergenerational dance troupe, honouring the traditional Quw'utsun dances and songs from the Cowichan Valley              

3pm    Kathy White Dancers – a weekly chance to watch young Scottish dance  students perform to their bestest- photo-op extraordinaire

4pm   Tropic Mayhem- ya, time to get on the dance floor with these valley favourites- wear your best Hawaiian  shirts and make sure to kick those shoes off , let that grass tickle your feet

4:20pm – Canada Day Cake Sharing – line up at the corner of the train station

5pm   Offcutz  - valley based band doing countrified folk covers delivered with spunk and finesse

6pm   Hill 60 -original tunes delivered by this valley 5 piece acoustic band quite sufficiently

7pm   McCandless Family Band –Dad came over from Ireland on a boat and in true Canadian form ended up having a family that became a wonderful band of fine musicians

Noon Community Song Circle with Cari   -  gather together to bring community together thru song, come lend your voice, easily done                                     

1pm  Kele Fleming -   LGBTQIA2S+ singer/songwriter from Victoria these days 

2pm  Matthew Presidente- from Vancouver, a very flamboyant LGBTQIA2S+ singer on keys that will definitely entertain you

3pm  Forte School of Music    local music school presents some of their vocal students as a treat for them and audience alike

4pm  Bardavissa  - Barbara and David Denz (Campbell River) with Mitch and the Baroness' Elissa Barron (Cobble Hill) performing folk music - original and borrowed from musicians around the world, including World Stage Premiers of brand new songs.

5pm  Nice Verdes  -a gypsy styled freedom emits from these two as they touch into south American culture and their Australian experiences  

6pm  Kye Goski  -from Courtney area this young lad has landed a slot at Filberg Festival this year as well- someone to watch out for - w Bob Goski, David Denz and Barbara Denz

7pm  St. Cecilia -'All-female tribute band to ‘Women in Music’ by Victoria singer/songwriters

Noon Brass, Wind & Rhythm -a 10-12 piece local swing band made up of members from young to the young-at-heart, the core of the group have been playing together for years

1pm  Harmonica Band  - a bunch of seniors get together to play harmonicas on a regular basis, this their recital sort of    

2pm  The Backroom Ukuleles -14 elder ukulele players that get together to play for fun, nothing else !

3pm  Mitch and the Barroness    in the last 7 years Pete and Elissa have amassed a significant body of work that ranges from honky- tonk to folk, blues to country, rock to pop.                                             

4pm  The Blunder Brothers  -2 guys from Lantzville area who write and perform some very poignant and witty songs

5pm  The Konsorados     - banjo/guitar/piano/percussion -  husband / wife duo that write in a country/folk style and perform it well- also from the Lantzville area- 

6pm  The Ecclestons -known for their infectious humour, joyfulness, and harmony, this Victoria based band has a massive Celtic and Canadian repertoire alongside solid songwriting 

7pm  From the Earth  -  a Vancouver Island based alternative-Island-folk duo with uplifting harmonies, catchy ballads, and a wide variety of original and unique cover material -Mike & Michelle deliver relatable lyrics, infectious personalities and a wholesome island attitude

Noon  Simon Sayz - with a voice smooth like sandpaper he brings passion to the covers he chooses                            

1pm   Silverbridge Toastmasters – some interesting storytelling going on here to keep your mind sharp

2pm   Old Growth - original westcoast bluegrass and beyond, elders in the folk world still have a voice and are still very vocal in their observations set to music

3pm   Awakeneers   - timeless contemporary folk music - a nomadic tribe of multi-instrumentalist songwriters (most of whom are siblings) they offer a genre-bending blend of acoustic positivity that orbits elliptically around the idea of folk music                    

4pm   Glenn Foster –-a Canadian singer songwriter, music producer, entertainer, multi-instrumentalist and president of his own companies Rescue Records, and Parent Publishing and Productions, in short he is a “do-it-all-myself” kind of guy and has been performing professionally for more than 40 years- this 3 piece band of countrified rock will make you take note

5pm   Orchid Orchestra  - a Vancouver-based indie pop band blending hip-hop, choral, and theatrical influences into dynamic, heartfelt music –slightly off the wall               

6pm   Polky  - from Toronto, contemporary polish folk/ global roots- led by multi talented female musicians delight audiences with joyful harmonies, unusual instruments and upbeat performances- performing at the Tofino Jazz Festival as well

7pm   Entangados - combining ska, rock, cumbia, salsa and Balkan folk music, En-tangados emanate fun and joy from the stage with the power of 100 suns, this musical band of clowns was formed in 2004 -their show mixes theater and music, filling the stages of the world with energy-dancing, fun, art, and social interaction

8:30pm Fiddelium -2023 Canadian Folk Music Award Winners (Young Performer of the Year) nominated for a 2024 Folk Music Award -a nationally recognized youth fiddle ensemble from Nanaimo BC, 14 performers on stage playing their hearts out- it will just spectacular

Noon Dennis and Andy Show –-no finer way to start a festival than these two, fine tunage and banter puts smiles on faces

1pm  Chuck McCandless-  have always given this folk elder the second concert each year cause he is what folk music is all about

2pm Saritah  - singer/songwriter from Australia, we convinced her to come to come up from a California tour to grace our stage – soulful reggae

3pm Carlson’s   - a given each year is the Teacher –Student Showcase alumni from Carlson’s, dancing into the future on opening day  

4pm Cow Bells  - music students in a band formation doing some pretty cool tunes

5pm Malakai - at 16 years old this young man is destined to shape the music world with his songwriting and his musical prowess

6pm  Arbutus Roots  - alternative original and cover pop rock based out of the Cowichan Valley

7pm  Pozitive Rebellion - a bit of reggae to get those feet moving on opening day by this Cowichan Valley band

5pm    Deb Rhymer  host of the weekly Victoria Blues Jam for years we finally have her on our stage singing the blues as only she can - stellar backup band

6pm    David Vest solo show with multi blues award winning boogie woogie piano player

7pm    Thomas Morris and company  - two guitars, bass, drums, sax and  keyboards- they come to make us boogie on the dance floor - includes Trevor Manuel / Rick Salt / Todd Sacerty / Pierre Komen and special guest Thomas’ grandfather Bryan Chamberlain -
