Fri. June 27th

VITALS Stage

Noon Dennis and Andy Show –-no finer way to start a festival than these two, fine tunage and banter puts smiles on faces

1pm  Chuck McCandless-  have always given this folk elder the second concert each year cause he is what folk music is all about

2pm Saritah  - singer/songwriter from Australia, we convinced her to come to come up from a California tour to grace our stage – soulful reggae

3pm Carlson’s   - a given each year is the Teacher –Student Showcase alumni from Carlson’s, dancing into the future on opening day  

4pm Cow Bells  - music students in a band formation doing some pretty cool tunes

5pm Malakai - at 16 years old this young man is destined to shape the music world with his songwriting and his musical prowess

6pm  Arbutus Roots  - alternative original and cover pop rock based out of the Cowichan Valley

7pm  Pozitive Rebellion - a bit of reggae to get those feet moving on opening day by this Cowichan Valley band

8:30pm Jay Stevens and The Chosen Ones  - guitar slayers , all three of them...so much sound coming out-with superb rhythm section

 

Sat. June 28th

VITALS Stage

11am Zumba with Roslyn- time to exercise in the park to disco music for another year  

Noon  Simon Sayz - with a voice smooth like sandpaper he brings passion to the covers he chooses                            

1pm   Silverbridge Toastmasters – some interesting storytelling going on here to keep your mind sharp

2pm   Old Growth - original westcoast bluegrass and beyond, elders in the folk world still have a voice and are still very vocal in their observations set to music

3pm   Awakeneers   - timeless contemporary folk music - a nomadic tribe of multi-instrumentalist songwriters (most of whom are siblings) they offer a genre-bending blend of acoustic positivity that orbits elliptically around the idea of folk music                    

4pm   Glenn Foster –-a Canadian singer songwriter, music producer, entertainer, multi-instrumentalist and president of his own companies Rescue Records, and Parent Publishing and Productions, in short he is a “do-it-all-myself” kind of guy and has been performing professionally for more than 40 years- this 3 piece band of countrified rock will make you take note

5pm   Orchid Orchestra  - a Vancouver-based indie pop band blending hip-hop, choral, and theatrical influences into dynamic, heartfelt music –slightly off the wall               

6pm   Polky  - from Toronto, contemporary polish folk/ global roots- led by multi talented female musicians delight audiences with joyful harmonies, unusual instruments and upbeat performances- performing at the Tofino Jazz Festival as well

7pm   Entangados - combining ska, rock, cumbia, salsa and Balkan folk music, En-tangados emanate fun and joy from the stage with the power of 100 suns, this musical band of clowns was formed in 2004 -their show mixes theater and music, filling the stages of the world with energy-dancing, fun, art, and social interaction

8:30pm Fiddelium -2023 Canadian Folk Music Award Winners (Young Performer of the Year) nominated for a 2024 Folk Music Award -a nationally recognized youth fiddle ensemble from Nanaimo BC, 14 performers on stage playing their hearts out- it will just spectacular

Sun. June 29th 

 VITALS Stage

Noon Brass, Wind & Rhythm -a 10-12 piece local swing band made up of members from young to the young-at-heart, the core of the group have been playing together for years

1pm  Harmonica Band  - a bunch of seniors get together to play harmonicas on a regular basis, this their recital sort of    

2pm  The Backroom Ukuleles -14 elder ukulele players that get together to play for fun, nothing else !

3pm  Mitch and the Barroness    in the last 7 years Pete and Elissa have amassed a significant body of work that ranges from honky- tonk to folk, blues to country, rock to pop.                                             

4pm  The Blunder Brothers  -2 guys from Lantzville area who write and perform some very poignant and witty songs

5pm  The Konsorados     - banjo/guitar/piano/percussion -  husband / wife duo that write in a country/folk style and perform it well- also from the Lantzville area- 

6pm  The Ecclestons -known for their infectious humour, joyfulness, and harmony, this Victoria based band has a massive Celtic and Canadian repertoire alongside solid songwriting 

7pm  From the Earth  -  a Vancouver Island based alternative-Island-folk duo with uplifting harmonies, catchy ballads, and a wide variety of original and unique cover material -Mike & Michelle deliver relatable lyrics, infectious personalities and a wholesome island attitude

Mon. June 30th

Noon Community Song Circle with Cari   -  gather together to bring community together thru song, come lend your voice, easily done                                     

1pm  Kele Fleming -   LGBTQIA2S+ singer/songwriter from Victoria these days 

2pm  Matthew Presidente- from Vancouver, a very flamboyant LGBTQIA2S+ singer on keys that will definitely entertain you

3pm  Forte School of Music    local music school presents some of their vocal students as a treat for them and audience alike

4pm  Bardavissa  - Barbara and David Denz (Campbell River) with Mitch and the Baroness' Elissa Barron (Cobble Hill) performing folk music - original and borrowed from musicians around the world, including World Stage Premiers of brand new songs.

5pm  Nice Verdes  -a gypsy styled freedom emits from these two as they touch into south American culture and their Australian experiences  

6pm  Kye Goski  -from Courtney area this young lad has landed a slot at Filberg Festival this year as well- someone to watch out for - w Bob Goski, David Denz and Barbara Denz

7pm  St. Cecilia -'All-female tribute band to ‘Women in Music’ by Victoria singer/songwriters

 

Tues. July 1st

VITALS Stage

Noon   Mbira Spirit – starting off another Canada Day with intercultural roots- a Zimbabwean singing country music with soulful glee

1pm    Kelly Roxanne Gervin -a local educator who also finds much release in songwriting and performing

2pm    Tzinquaw Dancers   -  intergenerational dance troupe, honouring the traditional Quw'utsun dances and songs from the Cowichan Valley              

3pm    Kathy White Dancers – a weekly chance to watch young Scottish dance  students perform to their bestest- photo-op extraordinaire

4pm   Tropic Mayhem- ya, time to get on the dance floor with these valley favourites- wear your best Hawaiian  shirts and make sure to kick those shoes off , let that grass tickle your feet

4:20pm – Canada Day Cake Sharing – line up at the corner of the train station

5pm   Offcutz  - valley based band doing countrified folk covers delivered with spunk and finesse

6pm   Hill 60 -original tunes delivered by this valley 5 piece acoustic band quite sufficiently

7pm   McCandless Family Band –Dad came over from Ireland on a boat and in true Canadian form ended up having a family that became a wonderful band of fine musicians

8:30pm Beautiful Maladies -again they grace our stage to bring a most memorable tribute to the music of the great Tom Waits

 

Wed. July 2nd 

Centennial Park Kid’s Stage - Red Balloon Toyshop sponsoring performances designed   for the under 9 crowd    

11am Anna McAndrew Trio    - performing songs from Raffi as well as some original children’s material

Noon  Bruce Cates- a folk singer for sure, he is liable to have a guest or two joining him to aid in bringing smiles to your faces

 1pm   Alick Troup – singer/guitar player moved over to the island from the Sunshine Coast and loves to entertain with a fine choice of mellow covers

2pm   Nadine Langelo – this gal luvs to sing cover tunes and has put a band behind her to give her that full sound

3pm   Open Mic – those who wish to sing / dance or perform on their instrument  on the festival stage here is a chance -we only have room for 8 performers for each open mic (next is July 30th) by signing up ahead of time at the sound booth

4pm   The Blair Brothers – one on guitar the other on pedal steel performing originals and covers to make you smile

5pm   Adam Dobres   - now living in the valley, a gifted guitarist and composer whose deep passion for his art is evident in every note he plays.  -his compositions resonate with emotion, capturing the complexities of joy, struggle, courage, longing, and love.                                                                                                           

6pm   Josh  Warren Quartet -Victoria jazz bassist living in Toronto is home long enough to put together some musician peers and perform for us- a musical treat each year

7pm   Maple Mountain Bunch  - no festival is complete without a bit of bluegrass being on the stage and this trio does it real well

7:30pm NEAVV-living on Gabriola , from Toronto, a singer/songwriter/producer who knows how to write songs that suit  her abilities to give strong performances of each song

8:30pm Sarah Smith Band  -a fiercely talented Canadian singer/songwriter, known for her powerful and compelling stage performances and the bold humanity of her songwriting -an artist of uncommon ability, unrivalled authenticity, who connects with all who encounter her remarkable songs and live performances

 

 

Thurs. July 3rd

VITALS Stage

Noon  Lennon -local musical elder in the hip hop scene, he also has chosen to accompany himself on guitar doing  some choice covers

1pm   Katrina Kadoski  -all the way up from Sooke, Katrina might be remembered as the writer /producer  / performer in her acclaimed / awarded play Cougar Annie Tales – today presenting her songwriting skills

2pm   Glenora Hand Bell Orchestra –residents from Glenora Farm come to town - a real treat not only the audience but for the performers who look so forward to performing for people

3pm   Canada’s Best Karate Sensai Jordan brings his many students to the park to showcase what they have learned so far in their martial arts classes – put your phone on video for this one

4pm   Fabian – from Argentina, he returns to perform for us once again- founding member of Entangados, his solo career is very much worth witnessing

5pm   Songwriters in the Round   - where 3 performers trade off 3 songs each in a panel fashion and yes,  discussion ensues  -this week  will be Naomi Payan  / Brian Hazelbower / Tai Williams

6pm   Wayne Kozak Quartet this great jazz/ R&B  sax player living in our valley always brings together a very fine team to take us on superb musical journeys

7pm   Beverley Mckeen and her Sweet Band  -one of the valley’s more well known singer/songwriters  always shines brighter when she has her full Sweet Band behind her

8:30pm  Nicholas Campbell -a soon to be a rock-a-billy legend (if not already) at 21 years old, this trio of musical peers should light up your life for  sure- a huge hit with his 3 performances last year, this Peterborough boy deserves your attention

 

Fri. July 4th

VITALS Stage

Noon Dale Manason -this man performs covers alongside his electronic ‘band’ in a most satisfying fashion

1pm     Steph Cutler -1/3 of local trio Firebird, she spreads her wings with these performances of her original material- she accompanies herself on piano

2pm    Jonny and Derrick - from Sooke  they play a mix of classic rock / blues / folk / and originals – Derricks guitar adds some jazzy undertones to Jonny Mack’s originals

3pm    Carlson’s  -a weekly chance for the young dance students to keep working on their routines all summer long- most gratifying to watch

4pm   The Ranters  -with her autoharp and him with his mandolin/guitar work together these local folks show off their vocal harmonies whilst performing familiar folk tunes

5pm    Jared Popma  -singer/songwriter born in the valley and now a Nanaimo resident, his music is a true observation of his wonderfully almost naïve pureness/honesty

6pm    Monte and the Pythons- having hosted many years of musical jams throughout the valley, this well known performer has a good team of players as of late and the journey taken on these original tunes is worth your time

7pm    James Meyer -never sure who he is bringing along but it is always entertaining, musical theatre being his forte means it is always joyous

Sat. July 5th

11am Zumba with Roslyn -what a way to spend a Sat. morning- sweating to disco

Noon  Ladies and Gentlemen  - a soulful tribute to the roots of R&B by local ladies with a cool band behind them

1pm    Well Met   - 3 local players utilizing violin/flute/guitar to make your day be gentler                

2pm    Van Riel   - original band from the valley has written some good tunage, pay heed                                        

3pm    Café Ole     - drawing inspiration from a beautiful tapestry of musical styles from Spain and Latin-America, they are a versatile duo known to captivate and transport audiences through time and place.  

4pm    Future Immigrants - Philo Russ and Lennon join forces to present a varied set of music that turns their crank

5pm     Reid Williams- local singer/songwriter extraordinaire-some people and words go together oh so well to become  observations of moments in time that take you to those moments- this guy is special

6pm     Flowering  Eyeballs     - two local valley boys with a library of raw cut up improv jams                              

7pm     Dance Temple Cowichan  - DJ with live percussion done in a community building fashion that will give you the desire to dance with freedom

8:30pm Rainshadow Al    7 piece band from the island that wants you on the dance floor – renditions of Sanatana / Bob Marley / Fleetwood Mac plus their own originals

 

Sun. July 6th  Salt Spring Island Invasion

Noon   David Des -he came to an open mic at the Showroom and immediately asked him to come back for the festival

1pm    the Moonshiners-

2pm    The Selkies -a trio of three sopranos and musicians: Schuyler Witman, Leanne Brunelle, and Johanna Peters

3pm    K-Tones - a flautist with his partner on keyboards and self produced backtracks  take  us on quite the musical journey

4pm    Kathy Stack Trio -original music by all three performers: Kathy Stack, Bob Delion and Tom Bowler. experience their blend of tropical rhythms, rare disco discoveries, and soulful house

5pm     David Carl Band- writes and performs in the Canadiana/Americana Country Folk style of Story Telling through Song

6pm    Marianne Grittani / Rose Birney- guitar/mandolin/vocals -well-crafted songs are filled with intelligence and soul, embracing common themes like love, loss, home, road adventures, and hopes for humanity—all in a way uniquely their own. 

7pm    Fawkes & Hownd  - this intimate folk duo is purely authentic, blending Canadian and American roots, Phöenix Lazare and Justin Kelley have created a songwriting style that feels as if they’ve invited you into their living room, sharing personal stories.

Noon   Steve Cutler  -a local singer/songwriter who picks really good covers to own when not singing his penned material - a fine way to spend a lunch hour

1pm    Tonia Hill /Scott McGill – many years at our festival, wouldn’t be the same without Tonia and Scott

2pm    Late Kate- a kitchen party favourite growing up in the Maritimes, more recently Late Kate enjoyed a busy schedule of performance and concerts in Mexico- her voice has been called sultry, and when she sings the blues it's powerful and earthy.

3pm   Warmland Dance - every Mon. during the festival Warmland Dance will bring along students that will show off how in the moment this studio is

4pm   Local Lovers  - now living in Cobble Hill these two have a wonderful way of delivering their songwriting skills – guitar/vocals and drums                                  

5pm   SueMack  -the up front gals from Rainshadow Al they also have their original set they do and today we highlight that part

6pm   Luck by Chance -youth of this valley are writing some very good tunes these days and self producing to the world their unique stylings – it is felt you will be impressed 

7pm   Nicholas Campbell -wow- those who saw him last year or on the City Square Stage on Fri. will be here to witness what this 21 year old rock a billy whiz from Peterborough Ont. is up to

 8:30 pmEugene Smith and the White Boys - a 26 year resident of the Cowichan Valley, this guy is the real deal- and now in his early 80's, what a voice still - ya, you want to check him out ( front man when he was 18 for Ronnie Hawkins for 6 years+)

Tues. July 8th

VITALS Stage

Noon  Dennis Atkins -he works at Sunrise making sure the folks there have musical interludes while taking care of them then comes to the park for his lunch hour to entertain those willing to listen-pleasant covers and wonderful originals

1pm    Leo & Lindsay Martel - Leo has got the bug, the musical bug and being an entertainer is going to be his gig in life- his dad, who is no slouch himself when it comes to being a performer, joins him for the set

2pm    Jaclyn Childs  -have always said she has a corner on folk noire when she is on stage with a piano but this time she is joined by her guitar playing friend- anxious to hear the direction   

3pm    Kathy White Dancers - such dedication and commitment from these young students to witness

4pm   Blue Hearts Trio  -starting off Blues on Tuesdays this year with local blues royalty Hank Lionhart of Uncle Wiggley’s Hot Shoes Blues Band fame – this trio is the real deal

5pm   Third Degree  - local valley residents continue to spread the faith of the blues whenever accorded the opportunity- electric blues from this 4 piece might have you dancing                                              

6pm   Brandon Isaak -solo for this concert, this multi awarded- nominated musician has a way of captivating his audiences with his blues knowledge/ abilities and attitude – so you best listen up

7pm   The Helen Davies Band - there are queens of the blues on this island and one of them is definitely Helen Davies and with this stellar band of excellent musicians the dance floor should be full

 

Wed. July 9th

11am  Tricky Magic - gonna be some magic tricks and some balloon animals made all on the same day and almost at the same time

Noon Naomi  Payan   - ahhh, what a voice and such very fine songwriting makes for a wonderful lunch time            

1pm Kent Ball  -truly a fine entertainer, he brings life to the cover tunes that he hand picks for each show-this is the guy to hire for your family summer gatherings                                      

2pm Dusty Roads  Duo- soulful harmonies evoke the raw emotion of the Delta blues, the well-crafted stories of down-home country, and the feel good energy of upbeat roots rhythms

3pm Dress Rehearsal Alumni – these are but a few performers who have showed up regularly for years regardless of the weather, improving a little bit each time they took to the stage– we honour their commitment  Steve Haggar / Michelle Frets /

4pm   Trip ‘n’ ME – known for their ability to do cover tunes, this a chance to show off their writing skills

5pm   Steve Mitchell    singer songwriter is a veteran of the fertile White Rock, BC music scene, Mitchell counts among his musical adventures the Vancouver Island folk trioTravels with Charley, the alt-country unit Yardsale, a six-year stint with the Juno Award-winning Paperboys & 0ver 30 performances at the world renowned Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN.         

6pm   Joshua Gellman Band a multi-instrumentalist from Vancouver Island, BC., he is a songwriter who sings in English & Spanish, and plays traditional songs from a variety of countries, as well as original – mostly cuts off his new release

7pm  Auntie Kate Trio  - now calling Salt Spring Island home she continues to show why she is known  as an R&B/Blues diva of Vancouver Island – this trio they come over to make sure we have us some fun

Noon Rita and Kevin McDade -she sings the blues and standards like she owns them and her husband quite aptly accompanies her on guitar

1pm Gravitation   - Bill Hamilton and  Burke Rosen continue to perform their brand of folk music  all over the southern island at various farm markets/festivals/ private parties and always at our festival

2pm   Lip Forest   -a singer/songwriter, who now calls the valley home, brings the imagery of his youthful adventures growing up in northern Saskatchewan to the musical stage                                          

3pm   James Hamilton – bringing the soothing sounds of a sitar into the busyness of a downtown park

4pm  Lance Lapointe   -from Port Alberni, this multi instrumentalist and singer/ songwriter just came off the road working as the bass player/singer for  the lastest Randy Bachman tour, but heh, this guy writes good tunes as well and here he is              

5pm  Songwriters in the Round    -where 3 performers trade off 3 songs each in a panel fashion and yes,  discussion ensues  this week   Paul Black/Don Wilke/Rockland Moran   -       

6pm  Murray Atkinson -aka lead guitar for the odds  , his ‘solo’ career has him very much delving into rock guitar mode – very enlightening music and loud

7pm  Beatlemania Unplugged -local Beatle heroes are back to entertain us once again so bring along your best voice and sing along ( we all do it) while we hear about the history of the Beatles thru their discography 

 

Fri. July 11th

Noon  Ronan & Kate  -now the accordion is a very fine instrument and Ronan actually teaches it and with his wife they make it all sound so nice

1pm    Alli Bean -singer/songwriter/music teacher from Victoria just had to be on the list of who needs be heard these days

2pm  Theo Massop/ Pete  Surridge-  bringing you a special kind of rhythm and groove, rolling with a taste of country, a dash of reggae and rock with roots that run deep. Music and lyrics that move your feet and stir your mind.

3pm  Spinnin’ Ninny Dance Studio  - very accomplished belly dancer /teacher she brings life to the stage                               

4pm  Terry Wicks -local singer/songwriter/producer is gathering a few of his friends to help him present to you his real good songwriting skills

5pm   Rockson Road -from Gabriola they bring a rock sensibility that is easy to admire, good songwriting and committed deliveries

6pm  Carmine -‘a band dedicated to excess- blending shimmering, multi-layered synth hooks, decadent harmonies, and over-the-top outfits, Carmine is giving Canada’s alternative rock scene a glam-pop makeover with dark, moody atmospheres collide with energetic pop hooks, while sultry, intimately vulnerable vocals give way to brash feminine rage and smeared red lipstick.’ 

7pm  Let the Good Times Roll”. -Ok, come dance to your favourite Cars songs with our local boys bringing the vibe- always a sell out at the Osborne Bay Pub and they did draw large crowds in City Square 2 years ago

11am   Zumba with Roslyn - groovin’ on the physical with new friends 

 Noon   Hill Fillies- originals and covers, these home grown  roots musicians have fun with this project – they show up regularly for the Duncan Showroom’s Dress Rehearsal Tuesdays (open mic) and we thought they should have some festival stage time

1pm     Concert in the Park with the  Cowichan Pipes and Drums – an annual hit, finding what pipers and drummers play when they are not marching

2pm     One Track Mind - a bunch of guys who truly enjoy singing their hearts out bringing folk/pop/soft rock to the stage with their harmonies

3pm     Sidetrack Suzy and the Bandits  -Suzy and her band are here  to rock the audience to a dancing frenzy- recovering from a major debilitating brain injury, she wants to show that no matter how hard or long that road is to get back up,  that music is the healing agent

4pm     Clarissa Roger with friends – well known local gal who likes to sing a song or 9 is able to bring the regroup the Drew Brothers to back her up for this festival

5pm     Mark Hildebrand – singer/songwriter passing thru town landed a slot at the Farmers Market today as well at our festival

6pm    11th Hour  - seasoned players who totally enjoy entertaining with their finely picked choices of past and present hits

7pm     Skinny Dyck  -   do not let the name scare you, this much sought after Lethbridge Alberta singer/songwriter (Calgary Folk Festival/Canmore Folk Festival already booked for this year)    redefining country music—one unforgettable song at a time

Sun. July 13th   

VITALS Stage

Noon   Steluta-Romanian for “little star”, plays an absolute constellation of musical styles! From Romany songs to lively Greek and Eastern European folk dances, interspersed with a bit of Irish as well as distinctive original tunes and occasionally “classical” ones, this acoustic quartet from Victoria shines brightly

1pm    Son de Metal -  from Nanaimo, blendingindigenous traditional regional Music from Southern Mexico with some rock elements

2pm    Jaclyn Childs  -local singer/songwriter on piano accompanied by guitar brings forth folk noire - been performing at the festival since its inception

3pm    Classical Jazz   - bit of treat here with classical repertoire  performed on flute merging with a jazz trio that takes us on a marvelously new musical journey                  

4pm    The Big Mess -father and son who perform alongside their self made back tracks with trumpet and vocals – we continue to bring them back to the festival cause people just like them so much 

5pm    Lady O and the Omen- stand up bass player and vocalist surrounds herself with high quality players bringing originals and some standards to the stage

6pm    Tom Lang   -original material with its heart based on the grooves of classic R&B / funk –ya, they gotta a dance kinda feel to them

7pm   El Balcón   - 6 musicians performing a blend of Mexican, acoustic-based Latin and Balcan music

Noon   Andrew McCormack-a walk thru Canadian pop / K-Tel  musical history, what a treat he is

1pm    Jarid Soulfire  -a valley singer / songwriter who has found his own niche, almost folk noire and when choosing a cover song, he owns it

5pm    Augie Dawg & the Blues Benders - valley’sown harmonica man along with some musical friends play the blues as they  sees it

A dynamic, personable performer, Kate’s “captivating voice and infectious rhythms” will have your hands clapping and toes tapping.            

3pm     Sober Karaoke- only one song each and must be registered at least ½ hour before showtime- open to 7 people only

4pm     Rae & Scott  -two voices that work together oh so well and remind us of the need for R&B to be in our lives. as often as possible

5pm     Kate MacColl  -vocals/piano/songwriter/playwright from Vancouver,  listening to Kate MacColl is, “…a nice way to chill…forget about life, then have it thrown back in your face by a golden voice.”

6pm    Doc Fingers  / Wayne Kozak  - been over 40 years since these two shared a stage together and what better event would this be suited for, another musical treat to bear witness to

7pm     Thick as Thieves  - well known local cover band also has some originals which is what this festival encourages- (over 75% original music this year )  oh ya, bring your dancin’ footwear

1pm    Dave Gallant  -a long time  defender of the acceptance of folk singers at public events , Dave made sure the Sooke folk scene stayed alive for many years- glad we had a slot for him

2pm    Without a Net  -yes, let’s talk folk and its Woodie Guthrie attitude that can prevail- clarinet/ guitar  and singing songs with intent to make people aware of the political landscape

3pm   Adage Music Hour -students will be performing, in groups and as ,soloist’s, songs that they have been working on throughout the school year

4pm    Tim Boss    - Hammond organ and drums venturing into beautiful creative ‘jammin’                                                            

5pm    Songwriters in the Round    -where 3 performers trade off 3 songs each in a panel fashion and yes,  discussion ensues  -this week  will be Matt Kinnunen /Hanna  Elise  / Jarid Soulfire    

6pm     Andy McCormack- front man for Tropic Mayhem, he walks thru one hit wonders / Canadian hits / remember K-Tel records? he will bring up the subject during his performance for sure- truly a wonder himself

Noon  John Ivision - came to a Dress Rehearsal Tuesday (aka: open mic) at the Duncan Showroom one Tuesday evening guitar in hand and after 3 original songs he was asked to perform at the festival

1pm   Local Lovers   - another good find at the Showroom open mic were these two from Cobble Hill these days – original tunes with vocals/ guitar and drums

2pm   Steve Cutler -yet another ‘discovery’ at a  Dress Rehearsal Tuesday years ago- originals and covers that he owns- very much a Lunch in the Park musical treat

3pm   Carlson’s   -always showcasing the amazing talent base that chooses Carlson Dance

4pm   Terry Wicks   - this valley singer/songwriter /producer gathers a few musical friends to showcase his songwriting skills

5pm   Lost Octave  - Lake Cowichan boys are still playing music under a new banner, have a recording studio and want the public to hear their latest works

6pm   Zenith  Local band from Victoria, Zenith explores the realms of 70's rock and 90's alternative by bridging the two worlds together in a fresh and creative way through thoughtful lyrics and raw emotion and soul. Spacey synth effects, prog rock guitar riffs and intricate boomy Bonham drums are key elements to the sounds of Zenith

7pm   Mardis Gras Mumbo   -funtastic Nanaimo musicians gather to perform the music that comes out of New Orleans, the songs that make you want to dance

1pm    Woodgrove Way  -a valley acoustic 4 piece that get together to enjoy the vibe of performing music with each other and this is their third year at the festival in this configuration

2pm     Island Storytellers  -a monthly event at the Duncan Showroom, some of the storytelling guilds gather to maintain the ancient art of storytelling

3pm     Sam & Adam  -flute / guitar and sometimes vocals, have watched these two find each other musically- a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon                

4pm     Low Winter Sun  -from Victoria, rock with a cello included, we asked them to return this year

5pm     Ryan McMahon  -such a very fine singer and songwriter who tours Canada regularly happens to live in Ladysmith and was available for yet another performance at this years festival                            

6pm     Belly Dancing Extravaganza  - lots of colour, lots of bling and lots of time put in to these costumes - so much excitement back stage for this annual get together of island belly dancers

1pm       Que T Brooke -from the Saanich Peninsula area and well known for her violin work touring as Qristina & Quinn Bachand  she brings along a guitar player to aid her with her organic fiddle tunes

2pm      Jade Blakney -1/3 of the Hardware Girls, Jade has written some songs that she all wants you to hear, so do join us

4pm      Hanna Elise Trio -this vocally gifted valley girl brings to the stage creativity as well adventures in to the healing powers of vocal vibrations

5pm      Pixelle -3 valley songwriters and singers got together a few  years back and sure had some fun, took a hiatus but are we glad they are back at it

6pm      Caraluna   -the multilingual indie-world-folk project of singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist Jesse Edward Thom hits the stage as a 6 piece with a plethora of instruments including horns, accordion, piano, bass and drums.

7pm      Curtis Clear Sky and the Constellationz -fresh from Pachina Bay Festival a quick stop from our friend Curtis was a must- come prepared to dance cause it will be hard not to

4pm     Rockland Moran  -acoustic blues guitar with an understanding of the blues songs he chooses to perform

5pm     Thor Jonsson  Band  -bringing the 5 piece tonight to give us that extra Hammond organ groove

6pm     Terry Robb   -a Canadian fingerstyle guitarist, composer, arranger and record producer living in the United States

4pm    Beth and Brandon  -they combine their classical jazz and choral music training to create  a modern perspective on a vintage sound-with a focus on vocal melody and harmony their songs sound as if they had been unearthed with the patina of decades in the songbook of Americana

5pm    Meredith Moon -as a duo, frailin’ banjo and violin- very much a musical treat

6pm   IFF-MC’s -Island’s Folk Festival is July 25th/26th / 27th at Providence Farm and this slot is dedicated to the main stage MC’s bringing their music and tales of the festival to encourage you to attend the amazing 41st annual IFF

7pm   Brice Tabish Band -their music brings the early influence of jazz rhythms on classic rock music back to our attention with his blues inspired brand of original hard rock

7:30pm Minuscule -a post-modern harmonic collective Minuscule this 6  piece is on a mission to redefine choral music by offering a genre bending blend of intricate five-part harmonies and emotionally stirring, tongue-in-cheek lyricism

8:30pm Meredith Moon -as a 4 piece- she has earned a stellar reputation for her unique non-traditional folk-punk-inspired approach to traditional music, as well as for her flair as a singer-songwriter – band consists of double bass, small kit drums, fiddle player and herself on banjo and guitar -also to note, she is Gordon Lightfoot’s daughter

3pm    James Hamilton - just under hour of soothing sitar music wafting thru the park

4pm    Jaclyn Childs  as a duo, she brings light to folk noire  

5pm    Songwriters in the Round   - where 3 performers trade off 3 songs each in a panel fashion and yes,  discussion ensues  -this week  will be Reuben Shepherd / Jack Porter / Salome  Cullen            

6pm     Yoke -local guys on drums/guitar/bass and flute showcasing their original material –quite interesting to witness – think Mark-Almond Band with a bit more funk

 Noon Gravitation - Bill Hamilton and Bourke Rosen are true troubadours of folk music and they spread their gifts as often as possible

1pm   Naomi  Payan  -singer/songwriter originally from France, she chose this valley to raise and be part of a family and to bring along her very fine vocals to new audiences              

2pm   Patsy Thompson' - visiting from the mainland, this gal can belt out many good tunes- bringing a guitar player to join her she comes highly recommended

3pm   Carlson’s  - always a photo op when these students dance

4pm    Kamile Kapel from Vancouver, singer-songwriter /storyteller and "edutainer"-raw, funny and touching

5pm    Ultraviolet  -a groovy and experimental project whose collective interests in spontaneous composition present a palette of ever-evolving musical ideas unique to each performance.
Their instrumentation includes drums, bass, and guitars (including the tap-style Touch Guitar), as well as pretty much a spaceship worth of effects pedals and gadgets            

6pm   Tennyson King  -from Toronto, as a duo -if you’re looking for the place where your soul can be wild and your heavy-heart assuaged, follow the sound of Tennyson’s crisp, round voice, as he plucks an electric chord and hammers out a beat on the kick-drum. Tennyson is a true indie folk rock nomad

7pm   Trevor Davies   -after returning from a few years in Montreal he has become a much sought after jazzy guitar player in the valley which is great but he does have the material that he has written that we believe needs be heard

Noon   Goldswing    -you can call this trio a purveyor of folk music         

1pm     John Lofto and Quw'utsun Secondary Music Students' -as it says, students of rock music being able to showcase what they have ingested during classes this last year

2pm    Chilko in the Rosemary   - this indie rock trio will trigger the dancer in you, whether you dance like a hurricane, groove like a gorilla, or chill like a sloth- the vibe is one size   

3pm    The Bastians of Rock    - 2 brothers and a dad make this combo a family walk down many historical musical paths                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

4pm    Ancient City Tea Party -young Nico who has attended many of our open mics has put together a cool band mostly out of Nanaimo- think full sound

5pm    Lennon/ Xavier / Wise Guy/Ambrosia -first time we have showcased rap at the festival, from the elder to the newcomers, family friendly dialogue

6pm    The Graham Francis Band  -this 4 piece original blues rock band from Victoria are very danceable

7pm    Vogue Villains -a heavy hitting, theatrical alternative rock band doing originals- based out of Campbell River they  will be at Jac’s on Queens later this evening

3pm    Daniel Cook Band - no finer Canadiana writer than witty Daniel Cook and then his radiators just push those songs out into the open in such a very pleasant way                                                          

4pm    Salome Cullen and the Frontier Sound -from Salt Spring Island this young singer/songwriter has got what it takes to be a true country star on his terms- fantastic tunage and great young players joining him

5pm    Chris Andres  -multi award winning alt/country, rugged, ragged and most fulfilling to the soul   

6pm    Reuben Shepherd Band -this young valley grown singer/songwriter has got a voice that just makes his tunes sink into you

7pm    Porter Brothers -valley creators of Farm Rock with a country feel - real life feelings placed remarkably well into danceable songs

1pm   Ronan & Kate -accordion you say, well yes, we have an accordion teacher and his wife who make the time spent listening a very pleasant experience

2pm   Jessica Blakney -another 1/3 of the Hardware Girls, Jessica has been writing and attempting new ways to express her soulful views on piano as well guitar and so here is the chance to do just that

3pm   Warmland Dance -innovative dance routines showcase this studios credentials

4pm  Nice Verdes -in a gypsy feel, their time spent in warmer climates permeates their music almost to a point that a closure of the eyes and  no airfare will be needed

5pm   Kelly Fawcett    -  always the consummate guitar player in any situation and he sure can sing in an r&b feel but he also writes from his heart his own tunes-

6pm   Steph McPherson   -can’t get enough of this Victoria this very fine singer/songwriter’s material- always a treat to introduce her to new audiences

7pm   tio Chorinho and Flavia  -Canada's first ensemble dedicated to performing Brazilian choro music and having  been on the City Square Stage before we thought this Toronto based troupe needed to  get this musical style into the park  where your feet can feel the grass underneath

Noon    Malakai -watching this young musician grow into the musician he is today knowing he will go so much further and we get to witness part of that journey

1pm      Leenie/ Mark -Leenie, that gal who sparks so many into creativity is joined by her friend Mark from the Campbell River area to discover what levels they can take their music to

2pm      Schayde Gray -I believe it is this young mom’s birthday today and her daughters first festival hearing her mother sing on stage- so glad to have Schayde take to the stage again

3pm      Kathy White Dancers - year after year they attend competitions and every year they bring back so many awards

4pm    Gary Preston Duo -  raised in Winnipeg gary brings a very soulful feel to his blues renditions utilizing his harmonica and his brilliant piano chops and along with his wife they are a blues force to reckon with                                                  

5pm    Renovation Blues Band- a new cd/vinyl drop recently has these guys pumped to play it live for the valley blues lovers

6pm    Danny Boy Phalen - Ontario boy who has studied the delta blues inside out, toured down south so hecould eat all that music up and bring it back to an audience with his flair added- you gonna like this guy

7pm    Shake ‘n’ Cor Trio  - harmonica virtuoso originally from Winnipeg  andnow calling Crofton home  has his wife Cory and pal on guitar perform music off their latest self produced projects

2pm   Graham Strang  - from the mainland this young man has a set of pipes that needs be witnessed ( front man for Kiss tribute band in the City Square a few years back)

3pm   Open Mic – only 8 slots available each session and only one song each so best let us know at the sound booth when you want to perform asap

4pm    Leenie Beanie / Bill Levity/ Eugene Smith - what trio of characters on stage for this slot- all are Showroom alumni and they very much help keep the concept of creativity alive

5pm    Ed Peekeekoot  -northern Cree artist and musician that now lives in Crofton and tours western Canada with his Chet style of guitar playing as well as his fiddle work, oh ya and his flute prowess- joined today by a couple of friends

6pm    Terry Boyle/Martin Nolan  -a wonderful taste of Ireland from these two young lads-Aeolian pipes alongside acoustic guitar and superb vocals create a marvelous musical journey

7pm    Firebird    featuring Genevieve Charbonneau's charismatic storytelling, Stephanie Cutler's powerful harmonies, and Jeremy Walsh's high-energy Celtic/folk roots, they create a unique blend of heartfelt songs and rich three-part harmonies

4pm     Graven -with 24 albums, EPs and singles under his belt, Nepean, Ontario-born Graven  is a passionate wordsmith of song who wears his heart on the sleeve of his melodies

Noon  Tom Young – -been playing guitar and singing folk songs most of his life when he ain’t doctoring and it appears he has a penchant for Gordon Lightfoot lyrics

1pm   Jonathon Churcher singer / songwriter who brings his past history of being afforded the privilege to hang out in the far north and bring those observations to us through his songs

2pm   Mitch and the Barroness – -they write some great tunes together and perform them with a controlled passion that only adds to the delivery

3pm   Carlson’s  - final episode for this year for this dance studio at the festival, they are always a treat

4pm   The Cooper Wolf Fusion- expanding their palette a bit, and instead of just nylon string and piano- their  'bread and butter', for variety they are bringing a fretless bass, steel string acoustic and even electric guitar as well as the piano. 

5pm   Daemon Shea – if there is in fact an example of a gene pool, here is Eugene’s Smith’s son, singing his latest release and other originals

6pm   Casey Ryder Trio -born and raised on Quadra Island he is an experienced performer in many styles, he is often called upon to instruct Swing, Jazz, Rock, Blues, Gypsy Swing, Country, Rockabilly and Latin as a music teacher andhe has been much sought after for his capabilities as a highly qualified stand up bass player / guitar player/vocalist in live situations- turns out he is also a darn good songwriter as well and this trio will showcase that

7pm  The Steadies -the kings of Island Reggae Rock return to the festival to see how many people in the park can they get up dancing and Earl of Wide Mouth Mason fame knows how to do just that

8:30pm Infinite Atom- a cosmic-disco collective blending psychedelia, world, folk, funk, reggae, rap and rock to create anthemic, high-energy original dance music

11am     Zumba with Roslyn - if you stop and listen/watch a bit you too will begin to find yourself gettin’ the body groove thang happening

Noon    Dale Manason  - beginning off the day of cover music, Dale knows how to get the music into your system, a regular at the festival                                         

1pm     Turnip the Beet - This group of fine local musicians are all about great music and having fun, from their wacky vegetable stage names to their infectious laughter, and groovin’ tunes, you won’t be able to sit stil

2pm  .  Ear Candy -  been playing across their homeland of Vancouver Island permeating the music scene with extensive chart topping rock hits.                                                                            

3pm      The Haven - a Sidney-based band these 4 veteran players specializing in rock and contemporary music with a wide range of influences and a passion for creating fun and memorable experiences,  make it all happen  for performing

4pm      Love Cats  -from Victoria showcasing an eclectic catalogue of notorious classic tunes of Rock, Pop, Country, & RnB music.

5pm      The Bar Starz -  great covers chosen and always a hit when they play the Eagles lounge 

6pm     The Rivals  -the keepers of the faith, these veteran locals have kept the valley music scene happening over the years by creating jams for musicians to gather around                 

7pm     TESSER   - a hit at last year’s 39 Days , they have regrouped and are out of the gate just bustin’ to please audiences with their selection and delivery of awesome covers

8:30pm Fabulous B-Sides -one of Victoria's premiere dance bands, they bring to the City Square Stage the energy that makes a party happen

Noon Anderson Jazz    -  trio from Comox, original compositions and some reformulated standards provide the perfect back drop for colourful and playful interaction that permits each member’s unique and exceptional musicianship to break free and shine                             

1pm   West Coast Soul Collective -an exciting and dynamic band of Vancouver Island's best young musicians, playing high-energy Funk, Soul, Pop and more

2pm   KC and The TomCats -Drawing heavily on jazz classics,, the interplay of KC’s seductive vocals with this quartet of talented players makes for a delightful afternoon of great tunes from the heyday of jazz music

3pm   Iain Duncan Trio –- from Salt Spring, performing mellow but swinging cool jazz and bossa novas, with a sound reminiscent of the 50's cool-school of Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, and Chet Baker- Iain, on sax  along with Nick Peck on organ and Hans Verhoeven on drums

4pm   The Cold Cut Combo -a gypsy jazz band from Victoria, BC, featuring virtuosic Manouche guitars, accordion, and vocal

5pm   Skye Douglas -embracing introspection and minimalism while blending Nordic jazz/ world music/neo-classical and spirituality in compositions of original music

6pm   Wayne Kozak Quartet  -  well known and respected sax player, of Powder Blues fame, gathers some excellent sidemen  to take us a to some very groovy jazzy places  

7pm   Ashley Wey Trio -this gorgeous chanteuse/piano player extraordinaire has traveled the world showcasing her sultry vocals on jazz standards as well as her original songs – dynamite rhythm section

8:30pm  David Gogo Band -if you must finish a festival then go out with a bang and David will make sure we rock out the final City Square Stage concert for the 39 Days of July 2025 – blues guitar playing at its finest

1pm  Shakespeare - Antony and Cleopatra, directed by Aaron Montan

2pm  Shakespeare also at the Gem of the Isle from Aug.6th till A

3pm  Rare-Earth Magnet - from the Yukon, now in Nanaimo, they are quite the folk duo and came highly recommended

4pm  Daniel Cook and the Radiators – island roots singer/songwriter is witty and very melodic with a bunch of fantastic musicians joining him on his musical journey

5pm  Daring Greatly -Canadians who have been working out of San Diego for a few years now as a 5 piece band, performed at last year’s festival and had a great time - they asked to come back, we enjoyed their harmonies and their energy and said sure

6pm  Dennis and Andy - they start the festival these last few years and they did write a song for the 39 Days of July and really do have family fun entertainment on their menu, so here they are

7pm  Blackberry Wood -they are back to close up this year’s festival –yes, they are whacky and so entertaining- vaudevillian indie whatever- just so much fun
